We are seeking a casual Customs Compiler to assist us for leave cover for a period of approximately 6 weeks, possibly a bit longer.
As a Customs Compiler, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing border clearance activities for import and export shipments. You will ensure compliance with Australian Border Force and Biosecurity regulations and provide exceptional customer service skills including;
Check documentation for accuracy including invoices, bills of lading, packing lists, packing declarations and certificates of origin.
Communicate and collaborate with customers, freight forwarders, overseas agents and government agencies to gather necessary information, resolve inquiries and address related issues.
Liaise with the Australian Border Force and other regulatory bodies such as Biosecurity to facilitate the border clearance of goods.
Stay up-to-date with changes in customs regulations, trade agreements and tariff rates to provide accurate advice to Northline’s customers when required.
Ensure accurate and timely preparation of customs declarations and maintain proper documentation in compliance with company policies.
Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders including operations, customer service, and sales teams, to ensure smooth and timely service delivery.
Provide exceptional customer service by proactively addressing customer inquiries, resolving issues and ensuring customer satisfaction.
What you’ll bring to the team
Have completed or be near completion of the Diploma in Customs Broking**.
Experience or desire to learn border clearance operations, preferably within the logistics or freight forwarding industry.
Ability to understand Australian customs regulations, procedures, and trade compliance requirements.
Experience with operating border clearance software and online portals such as CargoWise, BorderWise and the ICS.
Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills to manage multiple shipments and documentation accurately.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with customers, colleagues, and government agencies.
Ability to prioritize tasks, work under pressure, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of tariff classifications, duty rates, and Free Trade Agreements (FTA) is desirable.
Bachelor's degree in logistics, international trade, or a related field is an advantage.
