    Payroll Officer

    We are recruiting for a meticulous and efficient Payroll Officer to join our team in a permanent part-time capacity (0.6FTE) with the flexibility to step into a full-time capacity when covering leave.  This is more than just a payroll job – it’s a chance to play a key role in implementing a new payroll system, working closely with our experienced Payroll Manager and contributing to continuous improvements across our payroll operations.

    What You’ll Be Doing:

    Reporting directly to the Payroll Manager, your responsibilities will include:

    • Processing weekly payroll for up to 600 employees, including data entry, leave calculations, and adjustments.
    • Handling payroll enquiries and resolving discrepancies with care and professionalism.
    • Responding to employee payroll queries.
    • Maintaining accurate personnel data in Northline’s systems (currently Preceda and Humanforce).
    • Upholding strict confidentiality and data integrity.
    • Conducting award interpretation and analysis for pay differentials (shift work, overtime).
    • Providing guidance and support to line managers on payroll matters.
    • Ensuring ongoing compliance with legislation, regulations, and company policies.
    • Calculating termination payments and final entitlements.

    What You’ll Bring:

    • Demonstrated experience in end-to-end payroll processing.
    • Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Excel.
    • Strong working knowledge of payroll legislation and award interpretation in Australia.
    • Excellent numerical accuracy, attention to detail, and analytical skills.
    • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
    • High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
